Chapter 489: Entering The Secret Wyvern’s - 2
Eh? No wonder that Wyvern was hiding inside the realm for over a century... If he--
Leo abruptly halted his thoughts and immediately thought about Lily to divert his attention. He had already learned his lessons from Katherine, Brant, and Gunther; he couldn’t afford to be lax around a being whose strength surpassed even theirs.
And just as he expected, Zerathra was looking toward him with a smile on her face, which she soon hid behind her fan as a soft giggle escaped her lips.
Leo sighed inwardly in relief at his quick thinking. One could never be careful enough around mind-reading beings.
When Leo himself could sense the thoughts of 1-star and 2-star beings, there was no way a Pseudo 6-star wouldn’t be capable of doing the same to a Peak 4-star.
Where a Pseudo 6-star possessed stats points between 50K and 100K stat points, a Peak 4-star merely stood at around 4K.
But something was happening completely contrary to Leo’s expectations.
What in the world is happening? He seems to be Low 4-star... but then again, he feels higher...? Then why can’t I tell what’s going on in his head? What the hell is blocking me?
Zerathra tried forcing her spiritual boundary into Leo’s, only to be completely repelled. The more she pushed, the stronger the rejection became, like identical poles of a magnet refusing to touch.
But the moment she attempted to exert a greater amount of force—enough to potentially cripple Leo—her pupils suddenly contracted, and her heartbeat skipped for an instant.
W-what in the world was that...?
She gulped, cold sweat instantly drenching her back as the sensation fully settled into her being.
It felt as though something vastly superior to herself existed within him, and it had reacted violently to her force.
While Zerathra was getting wet, Leo scratched his forehead in confusion.
The same stupid feeling I had around Vice Principal Tarun...
He glanced toward Zerathra, who had already turned away and pretended to speak with her nephews.
Am I allergic to 6-star beings?
Leo’s attention soon shifted toward the scene at the centre of the circular ground.
Clang! Thuk!
A series of metallic clangs echoed through the area as the astral chains originating from the arrays and formations gradually loosened. At their tips were clamp-like objects latched onto something invisible suspended in mid-air, and one after another, they slowly came undone before crashing down with heavy thuds.
And it wasn’t merely a handful of chains and clamps, but hundreds of them.
Zerathra, who seemed to have recovered from her shock, stared at the sight with intrigue.
"That’s... some really advanced arrays and formations. Was somebody lucky enough to receive the heavens’ blessing and have their intuitive talent ranked up? Most probably..."
She muttered to herself. Magic capable of sealing a realm gate was considered extremely high-level even in a dragon’s domain, so witnessing such handiwork genuinely surprised her.
As the chains continued loosening one by one, the surrounding energy steadily intensified, rippling through the air itself.
Suddenly, a fissure appeared at the centre of the collapsing chains.
A deep yellow crack was carved into existence and slowly began widening with every passing second.
Kid, watch closely. That’s a yellow gate. And the moderate shade signifies that it’s within the mid-range of the 5-star realm. Be prepared for whatever comes next.
Leo nodded imperceptibly.
"Look closely! That’s where all of you will enter and seek an opportunity that could change your entire life for the better!"
The surrounding students and spectators watched in awe as the realm gate slowly opened in all its glory. And it was anything but small or meagre. A massive crack, nearly 50 to 60 meters long and 30 meters wide in the middle, had torn through the air itself, and no matter where people repositioned themselves, the gate appeared the same from every angle.
Naturally, there were also people terrified out of their minds at the sight of the gate, causing them to flee altogether. Most were unaffiliated individuals from the Empire, though there were a few academy students as well. However, after encouragement from their friends, many gritted their teeth, regained their courage, and decided to enter the secret realm anyway.
People hurried to purchase signal flares, but Leo noticed that none of the students from the top 7 academies bothered with them. They already had personal professors assigned for protection, which was far more reliable than a single flare where survival depended entirely on enduring long enough for rescue to arrive.
Which also meant many people would die.
The dead would simply become nutrients for the soil in the secret realm, allowing new natural treasures to grow...
That was the conclusion Leo arrived at.
Thumm!
A steady hum of energy stabilised around the yellow realm gate, signalling that it had completely opened.
"Now, the Ember Family’s Secret Realm Exploration officially begins!" Ashton announced loudly, his voice reverberating through the area.
"And don’t forget to maintain physical contact with your companions, unless you want to risk being thrown somewhere dangerous alone!"
The first to enter were the Ember Family’s 50 or so members, their varying shades of red hair standing out prominently as they stepped forward to encourage the others. Leo also spotted that dull red-haired woman—Hilda Bon Ember—among them, proudly walking beside a man who wasn’t Nirvan.
Wow... a real slut.
Leo clicked his tongue inwardly. She was the type of opportunistic woman who would cling to anyone capable of giving her favour and benefits.
He even suspected that, had she possessed better talent or had higher status within the branch families, she would’ve shamelessly tried her luck with Vulcan himself, the leader of the group who could very well be the direct son of Ashton Ember.
Well, it’s one way to get ahead of others... but how far can someone truly go beside a man willing to accept such a woman at his side?
Leo shrugged inwardly. The moment she tried to mess with him, her path upward had already been cut short, no matter how widely she spread her legs.
Before entering, the Ember Family members held onto each other’s hands. Hilda practically wrapped herself around the man beside her like a koala, pressing herself against him while barely using her pinky finger to hold onto the woman behind her.
Vulcan stepped into the realm gate first, though he didn’t disappear immediately. Instead, he walked through the distorted space until every Ember Family candidate had entered. Only then did all of them vanish together in the next instant.
Soon after, the others began following suit, entering the realm one group after another.
It was finally Leo’s turn to enter.
