Chapter 1 1 Earth Elemental
Chapter 1 1 Earth Elemental
The 33rd period of the Elemental Era, the end of the fourth cycle of water.
Deep within the Earth Elemental Plane, in an abandoned mine shaft forgotten by time.
Several earth elementals huddled together, wandering aimlessly. They were born with a dislike for open spaces and wished the mine tunnel would collapse immediately, but they were powerless to do so.
They had no choice but to huddle together, relieving their anxiety while discarding their severed limbs to help the "tectonic movement" fill the mine tunnels sooner.
Among this group of earth elementals, there was an anomaly; it merely followed far behind the rest of the group, its steps heavy and slow.
Its name is Yuefeng.
At least that's what he was called before he transmigrated. Compared to his crooked and deformed counterparts, Yue Feng's physique was closer to that of a humanoid.
Scattered on its body are short, columnar, grayish-white rocks. Its arms are thick and strong, and the orthorhombic rocks almost reach its scalp. There are two pale purple gemstones embedded in what appears to be its head.
Maintaining a human form is difficult; it requires not only resisting gravity but also properly distributing the proportion of rock and sand in the upper limbs to avoid a top-heavy or uncoordinated situation.
Of course, there's no need for the earth element to stand up; crawling is much easier than taking steps. But Yue Feng insists that one should act like a human being.
He recalled that a few days... or maybe ten days ago, he was carrying his sister's birthday cake up the stairs when the light in the stairwell suddenly went out halfway up...
The cake broke, and the cake itself disappeared too.
"Damn it! What are the property management companies doing? This is the third time this month! A bunch of idiots who just collect money and do nothing!" (A series of unintelligible sounds of rocks colliding with sand)
Even worse, he couldn't even remember how long he had been dead. The Earth Elemental Plane had no sun, and even if it did, he, buried deep underground, would have no way of knowing.
"I wonder if my seven-day mourning period is over yet... Ouch!"
Yue Feng was so engrossed in his own thoughts that he accidentally bumped into the wall, lost his balance, and fell to the ground with a loud 'boom'.
"Is there another traffic jam?"
This is a common phenomenon in abandoned mine tunnels. What happens when two large clumps of earth elements collide in a confined space?
They will form a real wall, and dozens or even hundreds of elemental spirits will instantly detach from the body and return to the rock layers of the earth elemental plane.
This means we can explore the areas ahead later.
At that moment, several wild earth elementals were attracted by the loud noise.
They crawled over and together helped Yue Feng up, then spread their arms, making a series of "clucking" sounds from their bodies.
It's clearly an invitation to hug.
Yue Feng chewed on some rock sand and said, "Thank you, but I don't want to be intertwined with you. I need to leave here quickly."
This is based on experience.
It won't be long before a lot of earth elementals spawn here. If you get caught up in them, you won't even have a chance to escape.
Those earth elemental spirits that return to the rock strata will still choose to solidify their bodies in abandoned mine tunnels, filling all the space with earth, which can be considered the underlying code of the earth element.
Ignoring its slightly disappointed fellow creatures, it sidestepped them and continued its huddling forward.
In Yue Feng's eyes, everything in sight was gray.
Although the Earth element comes with a built-in dark vision, it cannot distinguish colors in a dark and obscured environment, and can only present a grayish scene in the field of vision.
............
After an unknown amount of time, Yue Feng found a mining subsidence area.
The cave is about several tens of meters square and two stories high. Scattered between the ceiling and the rock walls are a layer of strange, glowing fungi.
The pale yellow glow spread in the darkness, giving him a warm feeling.
Then, Yue Feng slowly walked to a patch of fluorescent fungi, sat down heavily on the ground, and felt increasingly frustrated.
Since transmigrating here, everywhere I go is deathly gray, and being an earth elemental is not pleasant at all.
He was completely unaware of the existence of his limbs and body, and his sense of smell, touch and taste had also disappeared. He was somewhat like a patient with high-level paraplegia, specifically the kind with amputation below the neck.
His vision wasn't much better either; his gaze kept shifting up and down, sometimes hovering above his head, sometimes below his knees.
The unique vibration sensation of the earth element is even more bizarre; even without physical sensation, one can perceive in their mind the falling of gravel 3 to 5 meters away.
These circumstances combined create an eerie feeling of being detached from reality.
Yue Feng raised his hand and rubbed his eyes (purple gemstone) vigorously.
"No, the location of the elemental essence is where my eyes are."
This body couldn't even shed tears, yet he symbolically wiped away a non-existent tear on his chest.
"Wait a minute, what's that?"
In the dim fluorescent light, a gray light in the lower right corner of the eye socket was flashing rhythmically.
He didn't dare to move, staring intently at the gray stone on the ground.
A few minutes later, I dared to slowly shift my gaze to the rock wall, where the gray light remained, undiminished.
"It's not a hallucination! The cheat code has been installed! But why is it a gray bastard?!"
Yue Feng immediately focused his attention on the gray flash, silently chanting in his mind: Deep Blue, System, Grandpa, save me, but there was no response.
"View panel".
The gray light suddenly stopped flashing and disappeared from sight, followed by lines of data and text appearing before my eyes.
【Name: ??? (lv3)】
[Race: Earth Elemental Lv2 (Common Species)]
Occupation: None
[Talent]: Tremor Perception
[Protection]: Rekindled Protection Lv1
[Martial Arts Skills]: None
[Magic]: Body Shape Change lv3 (Beginner)
[Equipment]: None
This character panel is entirely white with black text, incredibly rudimentary. Even a 20-year-old browser game would be hundreds of times better than it.
No matter how many times I check my character panel, all I see are a few pitiful lines of text.
"Putting aside you, you clueless, penniless youth, where's my name? Where are my Deep Blue skill points?"
Yue Feng cursed under his breath and poked the panel with his hand in dissatisfaction.
The next second, the character panel changed.
[Name] You really don't have a name.
[Earth Element - Medium] You are a newly born earth spirit, with a rudimentary form and undeveloped intelligence. Earth spirits like you are more numerous than wild dogs in the material plane.
—Don't be afraid, there are three others as weak as you, collectively known as the Four Background Players.
[Talent: Tremor Sense] You can locate moving creatures or objects within a certain range; you cannot locate objects that are not on the same surface.
【Enhancement: Rekindled Protection Lv1】You don't know.
【Magic: Body Shape Change lv3 (Beginner)】A magic that allows you to change your body at will. When using it, you need to pay attention to important or unimportant tissues and organs such as internal organs, bones, brain, arteries, veins, and skin.
Your body is still your body; don't puncture your intestines.
Geno Davis, the shapeshifter from Sea Breeze City, has something to say: "I once transformed into someone with three heads and six arms, but the price was six armpits! My little daughter has refused to be held since that day, but my lover seems to love me even more."
—Let's go back to having one head and two arms.
Just as Yue Feng was carefully examining the text that had appeared on the panel, a white light suddenly appeared beneath his feet without warning.
Amidst the light, the pentagram pattern slowly unfolded, and several magical runes rapidly condensed and took shape.
There's no need to know what the formation is for, or whether it's good or bad; the best thing to do is to hide first.
Without the slightest hesitation, Yue Feng immediately took off running towards the outside of the formation.
But after taking only two steps, the pentagram array seemed to have eyes, chasing after him and suddenly bursting out with blinding white light.
"Holy crap, it even has tracking capabilities?"
After the white light, Yue Feng completely disappeared from the spot.
