Chapter 6 Morning Star Manor
Chapter 6 Morning Star Manor
In the room where the incense of Barbatos is lit.
"Congratulations, Damian, you have perfectly memorized all the common words and their pronunciations."
Upon hearing this, Damian breathed a sigh of relief and sank into the sofa behind him.
Even with the enhancement from the Life Potion, studying non-stop for a day and a half was still a bit too much for him.
"Teacher Iro, can I go take a nap first?" Damian rubbed his eyes.
"I'm sorry, Damian, Lady Alicia's allotted time is already halfway over. I know you're tired, but could you please finish your grammar lesson before going to sleep?"
Looking at the boy on the sofa whose eyes were barely open, Iro said apologetically.
To be honest, Damian's ability to persist in studying for such a long time is an unimaginable miracle for any demon, even with the aid of the Barbatos Fragrance.
Is this what it means to be human?
She had to do this simply to complete the task assigned by Lady Alicia.
"Understood, Ms. Iro, I will persevere."
Damian pinched the bridge of his nose with his fingers, a method he often used to refresh himself.
The vampire maid then took away the nearly burnt-out candle and lit a new Barbatos incense.
Accompanied by a refreshing, subtle fragrance, the lesson began once again.
...
"The lesson is over."
Damian could no longer see the expression on Iro's face across from him. The moment he heard those words, he collapsed onto the sofa behind him, his vision going completely black.
In his hazy state of consciousness, he seemed to vaguely feel someone gently holding his hand, and his body felt much warmer.
Good night, sweet dreams.
...
Splash!
The curtains were suddenly pulled open, and golden sunlight poured in, dispelling the shadows in the room and fluttering the eyelashes of the sleeping boy on the sofa.
He slowly opened his eyes and saw a pretty figure standing in front of him.
She was a beautiful woman with silver hair and red eyes. The sunlight gilded every strand of her hair with flowing gold light, making her look as beautiful as a painting.
What's truly chilling is that there was no shadow behind the other person.
How can a person not have a shadow?!
No, this is hell, and standing in front of him is a vampire who is not afraid of sunlight!
Damian immediately recalled everything that had happened before, and his previously drowsy eyes instantly cleared.
He abruptly threw off the blanket covering him, jumped off the sofa, and stood at attention in a straight military posture.
"Don't be so nervous, Damian." This made the vampire maid laugh, and she gently patted the boy's shoulder to comfort him.
"Good morning," Iro greeted softly.
"Good morning, Ms. Iro!"
Damian wasn't speaking Chinese this time, but rather a genuine hellish accent, complete with the distinctive accent of arrogant devilish nobles.
"It seems that a good night's sleep did not make you forget what you learned yesterday; in fact, it allowed you to fully grasp the knowledge you learned in your sleep."
Iro looked relieved; she finally understood why the teachers at Babylon Academy were so enthusiastic about teaching instead of enjoying their wonderful magical lives.
It turns out that teaching students is such an easy and enjoyable thing!
"Let's go. You've slept for a whole day and night. We should go and pay our respects to Lady Alicia."
A whole day and night?!
Does that mean it's already the third day?
Remembering Alicia's parting words that those who couldn't learn the magic language would be melted into liquid, Damian's heart tightened, and he quickly followed Iro out of the room.
Tapping.
The two walked through an extremely luxurious corridor, with crystal chandeliers and gilded reliefs slowly receding from their sides, and light and shadow refracting into mesmerizing rainbows on the stained glass overhead.
After walking for a long time, Damian realized that the house he was in was much larger than he had imagined. It could no longer be described as a simple villa; it was more like a magnificent palace.
"This is Morning Star Manor, a palace passed down from the Lucifer family since ancient times. Its first owner was the greatest being in the Seven Rings of Hell—the leader of the Seven Lords of Hell, the Arrogant Lord Lucifer."
Iro spoke, her voice filled with reverence, and even a hint of barely perceptible fanaticism.
Lucifer?!
Damien's heart skipped a beat when he heard the name, and he barely managed to suppress his shock and keep from uttering a sound.
Even though he grew up in an inland Chinese city, he had heard of Lucifer's great name in Western creation mythology.
Legend has it that Lucifer is the firstborn son of God and the highest-ranking archangel in all of Heaven besides God.
It was only because He was too arrogant that He refused to pay homage to Adam, the first human created by God, and led a third of the angels in a rebellion.
The rebellion ultimately failed, and Lucifer, the mastermind behind it all, was condemned to hell.
I never imagined that the legendary myth was actually true... Wait a minute!
"Teacher Iro, may I ask what Lady Alicia's full name is?" Damian's voice trembled slightly.
The vampire maid walking ahead stopped upon hearing this. She turned around, looked at the black-haired boy, and spoke with an expression of immense pride:
"My lord to whom I offer everything is Alicia Lucifer, the eldest granddaughter of the Arrogant King, and the current head of the Lucifer family."
...
After walking for an unknown amount of time, the two finally stopped in front of a heavy door.
Click.
Without needing to be pushed, the door opened naturally, as if it were alive.
After stepping inside with Iro, Damian was immediately stunned by the sight before him.
Looking up from the dome, which is tens of meters high, feels like falling into an endless starry sky, with no sense of direction.
Against the deep blue background of the dome, countless sparkling gems are inlaid to form constellations, and the lines connecting the constellations are outlined with mithril. Under the giant crystal chandelier in the center, those silver lines shimmer slightly, as if they might flow at any moment to form a flowing, dazzling galaxy.
The walls on both sides are covered with giant paintings—twelve-winged angels raising their swords at God, an army of angels fighting to the death with blood on their hands, a king wearing a crown of thorns conquering hell...
Each painting is so lifelike that you can even see the individual feathers on the figures, creating an overwhelming sense of realism.
This is not a dwelling that can be built by human beings; only the legendary gods and demons could do it.
In the very center of the hall, beneath a massive banner painted with stars and wings, resembling layers of folded angel wings, a woman sat quietly on a magnificent throne.
Her pure white long hair cascaded down like fresh snow, flowing quietly to her slender waist. Her features were so exquisite that they seemed to have been sculpted by the gods themselves, making her beauty almost ethereal.
Yet no one dared to harbor any disrespect for such a beauty, not only because of the majesty contained in her bright golden eyes, but more importantly... her face bore a six or seven-tenths resemblance to the angel king in the wall painting.
Alicia Lucifer, the six-winged angel and mistress of Morningstar Manor.
