Chapter 37 Assigning Roles
Chapter 37 Assigning Roles
The guesthouses selected by the program team were naturally of good quality.
Chen Yuan looked around his room, which he estimated to be about 30 or 40 square meters, neither too big nor too small. It was cozy, with various DIY toys on the walls and a bathtub in the bathroom.
There is a small balcony. From the balcony, you can see the desert in the distance, which is brightly lit at the moment.
Chen Yuan paused for a moment, guessing that this might be near that famous tourist attraction in Dunhuang.
Moreover, the area around the guesthouse is very lively, with many other guesthouses nearby and a commercial street not far away, where you can see the bustling crowds.
After coming down from the room, Chen Yuan inquired about the details of the mission from Ji Chengyu and the others.
"Well, it's basically about assigning roles. The specifics will depend on how the other party arranges it," Ji Chengyu said.
"Assigning roles?" Chen Yuan was a little confused. Could it be that they came to Dunhuang to film a movie?
Before long, Su Qingyuan and Xu Zhiyi also came down.
Chen Yuan glanced at the time; it was already past eight o'clock. Without further ado, the three of them said goodbye to the others and headed out according to the map.
After leaving the guesthouse, the map guided them towards the commercial street.
Chen Yuan led the way with a map in hand. On both sides of the bluestone-paved road were various distinctive guesthouses, and occasionally the conversations of other tourists could be heard.
The streetlights are traditional-style lanterns, and as you walk further, the number of pedestrians gradually increases.
Xu Zhiyi and Su Qingyuan quickly noticed the light in the distance, which seemed to indicate that they could reach a fun place by crossing the alley ahead.
"That's the commercial street," Chen Yuan said. "But it seems we don't need to go that way. Let's go the other way."
"Where are we going?" Su Qingyuan asked.
"I don't know, they said they'd assign roles," Chen Yuan said.
"Assigning roles?" Su Qingyuan was taken aback and said, "Is this some kind of game?"
As they spoke, Chen Yuan led the two into an alley, where the light suddenly dimmed.
Xu Zhiyi and Su Qingyuan moved a little closer to Chen Yuan. In the dim light, only the sound of their footsteps echoed in the alley.
A moment later, the three of them walked through the alley and arrived at the entrance of a modern building.
"Crescent Bay Centennial Celebration Coordination Center?" Xu Zhiyi looked at the words on the sign. She could understand each word individually, but the combination of them was a bit unclear.
"Are you suggesting we do this as volunteers?" Su Qingyuan asked curiously.
"Volunteer?" Chen Yuan said, somewhat surprised. "It might actually be true. You'll be done for if you're assigned a cleaning job."
"A cleaning position!" Su Qingyuan was stunned. "No way, I'm supposed to be a receptionist, right?"
The three of them made wild guesses, and seeing that there were no guards at the door, they went straight in.
Upon entering the house, it was bustling with activity. Many people were busy at work, some moving various equipment, others discussing something.
Chen Yuan glanced at the requirements on the task card; they needed to find the person in charge of the role allocation department.
Looking at the chaotic scene, Chen Yuan stopped a girl who was walking in front of him and smiled, "Excuse me, miss, where is the role assignment department?"
"The role assignment department?" The girl peeked out from behind the mascot, paused for a moment after seeing Chen Yuan, and then said, "Just walk straight to the end."
"Okay, thank you." Chen Yuan said gratefully, then left with Su Qingyuan and Xu Zhiyi.
"Um?"
"Is this their agent?" the girl muttered, looking at the middle-aged man carrying the camera.
"What a handsome guy, and two beautiful girls too." The girl sighed, quite envious.
The three of them quickly arrived at the room at the end of the corridor. After seeing the nameplate on the door indicating their roles, Chen Yuan stepped forward to knock, but the door was suddenly opened.
A young boy walked out, glanced at Chen Yuan in front of him, his gaze lingering on his face, and then left with a disgruntled expression, muttering under his breath, "What a piece of crap, it's clearly an arrangement that only considers looks."
"What happened to him? Did he get assigned to guard the gate?" Su Qingyuan whispered.
"....."
Chen Yuan became increasingly convinced that beneath Su Qingyuan's aloof exterior lay a goofy side.
The three of them then went inside.
Upon entering the room, Su Qingyuan looked at everything before her, feeling as if she had returned to her own dance studio, and was somewhat bewildered.
"Back to your home turf," Xu Zhiyi said calmly.
"You're not going to make us dance, are you?" Su Qingyuan asked in surprise.
Just as they were pondering this, a voice interrupted their thoughts.
"Hey handsome guy over there, come here!"
"Stop looking, it's you." A middle-aged woman's sharp gaze locked onto Chen Yuan, and she beckoned to him.
Chen Yuan was a little confused, then walked towards the other person.
As they drew closer, the middle-aged woman sized up the three of them, nodding repeatedly with satisfaction.
"You're someone I've been attracted to for thirty days, right?" she asked.
"Yes, that's right." Chen Yuan nodded.
"Not bad, I didn't expect your production team to be so high-quality. Let me take a look." The middle-aged woman said to herself, looking Chen Yuan up and down.
"You should go to..." The middle-aged woman looked at the form in her hand, thought for a moment, and said, "Go to the performance group. The head of the performance group will assign you the specific tasks later."
"Ah Lei, come here for a second. You're in charge of this handsome guy," the middle-aged woman said, calling over a girl with a ponytail.
"What's wrong, Sister Yan?" A girl with pigtails walked over, looking surprised to see Chen Yuan. "Is there another handsome guy for me?"
"That's right, you can arrange this," the middle-aged woman said.
"My name is A-Lei, what's your name?" The girl with the ponytail looked at Chen Yuan with a smile.
"Chen Yuan".
"Okay, just come find me here tomorrow," A-Lei said, then asked Chen Yuan to greet her and the other team members.
Chen Yuan was still a little dazed. He exchanged a glance with Xu Zhiyi and Su Qingyuan, and then followed them.
Su Qingyuan and Xu Zhiyi now understood what they needed to do.
"Are you a dancer?" the middle-aged woman asked, looking at Su Qingyuan.
"Yes, how did you figure that out?" Su Qingyuan asked, somewhat surprised.
"You can see with your eyes. Okay, go to the dance group. Those girls over there are the ones. Go find them." She pointed to a group of beautiful women gathered not far away.
After settling Su Qingyuan in, the middle-aged woman looked Xu Zhiyi up and down, her eyes lighting up. "I can't be wrong. Go to the sketch comedy group. I think you have a lot of potential as a sketch comedy actor."
"..." Xu Zhiyi's face immediately darkened. So one of them was going to perform, another was going to dance, and she was going to act in a skit?
"Don't look so sullen, I can't be wrong about people," the middle-aged woman said seriously.
On the other side, Chen Yuan met the other two young members of the group, a man named Ming Feng and a woman named Wang Qing.
After some conversation, I realized that this was the coordination center for the Crescent Bay Centennial Arts Festival this weekend, and their performance group would be one of the guests performing on stage.
The performance group has more than a dozen people, and Jiang Yichen and Lin Wanxing are also in their group. They were assigned roles during the day.
"A few others went to get something to eat, they'll be here in a bit," Mingfeng said, and the next moment he saw several young people walk in through the door.
"Here they are, they've arrived," Mingfeng said, pointing to the doorway.
Upon hearing this, Chen Yuan turned around and looked back. The next moment, he met the eyes of the group of young people who were walking over, and both sides were stunned.
