Chapter 261: ... And It Changes!
Chapter 261: ... And It Changes!
Jason had successfully done what he needed to do and what he had to focus on was getting out of here.
But while watching his bloodied sword, he heard his front door creep, the bathtub was still a bloodied mess, and he couldn’t let anyone in there just yet.
Jason rushed to the door to attend to whoever it was, hoping that it wasn’t Rachel and luckily it wasn’t.
He realized that it was Lillian but what was she doing at his place this late at night, especially with the curfew in place?
This couldn’t be good but Jason had no intention of letting her spend the night here, he couldn’t drag her into his mess.
Lillain had always been nosey and Jason knew the first place she would want to check was the bathroom like she usually does but the bathroom was in no condition for visitors.
Jason noticed her trying to brush past him but he grabbed her by the arm gently.
"Aren’t you going to say hello first?" Jason asked.
"No, I came here to look for my sister so if you have her, let her go," Lillian barked before yanking her slender arm from his grip.
"Rachel isn’t home yet?" Jason thought to himself, he couldn’t believe he was so wrapped up in his problem that he forgot that Rachel could equally be in trouble.
"She isn’t here, I saw her on my way home," Jason said before overtaking Lillian and blocking her path once again.
"You’re being weird..." Lillian pointed out, Jason didn’t have any problems with her searching his house before so what made tonight any different?
"Or you’re overthinking it," Jason shot her down but Lillain’s face creased into a look of surprise.
"Did you just try to gaslight me?" That was exactly what Jason had attempted.
He forgot that Lillian was a lot smarter than girls her age and this didn’t work on her.
She could discern certain things that even adults would overlook.
"Sighs," Jason thought to himself before clutching his torso in pain and almost buckling.
"Hey! Are you alright!?" Lillian asked, attempting to support him with her small body that would most definitely buckle under his weight but Jason caught himself.
"I must be tired," Jason responded but Lillian wasn’t having any of that.
He was clearly hurt for this to happen but in actuality, Jason wasn’t hurt, this was all a trick to derail her intention and it worked.
Jason knew he couldn’t let her in, Rachel finding out about what he did was one thing but Lillian was someone that he couldn’t let find out.
Jason realized that he couldn’t allow Lillian to go back home alone, he had to either escort her or allow her to spend the night here.
The community was relatively safe but there was no telling what sicko would take advantage of a child walking home alone at night and frankly, Jason didn’t want to find out.
"I just need some rest," Jason blurted out.
Lillian helped him to a couch before rushing to the kitchen to bring him a cup of water.
Jason knew that she cared about him deeply despite her bratty attitude.
He didn’t like that he had to do this to Lillian but he had to protect her from this side of him.
Lillian brought him a cup of water and Jason was glad that this happened but he had to get her out.
"I need to be alone right now, Lillian," Jason told her and Lillian noticed that the tone in his voice was different, he meant these words.
She didn’t know what had happened but she knew he needed his space which she planned on giving him.
"I will leave only if you promise to take care of yourself," Lillian pointed out, she was worried and she couldn’t hide it.
"I promise you little rascal," Jason reassured her with a bright smile but he got up to his feet the moment she headed to the door.
"Where are you going?" Lillian asked.
"I’m walking you back, Rachel would kill me if she found out I let you walk back alone," Jason told her. Lillian thought about protesting but he was right.
Rachel would expect him to take care of her when she couldn’t, that was the responsibility that came with trust.
"Fine but after that, you head right back and take care of yourself!" Lillian barked like she had a say.
Jason was glad that he could handle the situation healthily but he was worried about what Lillian said earlier.
He hoped that Rachel wasn’t in trouble but the possibility of that was very low, she was far more capable than he gave her credit for and he knew he had to trust her.
She wouldn’t have asked him to go if she didn’t have the situation handled and should anything happen to her, he was willing to burn down the community and set everything ablaze.
Jason couldn’t take the bag with him or Lillian would only ask more questions.
He planned to return home after dropping her off and then returning to his apartment.
He was in no hurry because time was on his side.
-
The door to Jason’s house opened and it was Rachel once again, after thinking about either going home or coming here, she realized that she needed to know that Jason was all right.
This was why she chose to come here, for that simple reason.
However, once again, he wasn’t at home but it was clear that someone had been there considering she was the last person in there.
That means he came back and went out again but to do what?
"Does he plan to get rid of the body?" Rachel thought to herself, she didn’t care for the gore details but she was hoping that it was an accident.
Sexplay gone wrong perhaps? That would tell her he was sleeping with Allison but that was a lot easier to swallow than thinking he killed her in cold blood.
But her feet soon made contact with a bag lying on the ground in utter darkness.
"Huh? This wasn’t here before, was it?" Rachel thought to herself and she soon made a decision that would haunt her and change the way she viewed Jason.
