Chapter 203: Pregnant
Chapter 203: Pregnant
Scarlett’s POV
"So, you bitch, you are back," a familiar voice snapped. It was Bianca, Leo’s wife. Her eyes were filled with pure hatred as she glared at me.
I completely ignored her. I didn’t give her the satisfaction of seeing me upset. Instead, I walked right past them and sat down calmly on the edge of the bed, crossing my legs.
Bianca took a step closer, her face turning red with anger. "I thought you were supposed to be dead! How the fuck are you still alive?"
I kept my face like stone and still ignored her, acting as if she were nothing but thin air. My silence was clearly driving her crazy.
Then Talia, Leonard’s wife, spoke up. Her voice was sharp and cold. "You have to leave, Scarlett. You are not welcome here. This is our pack now, not yours."
That was when I finally decided to speak. I looked up at them, my voice completely flat and unbothered. "You have no right to drive me away. Only the triplets can do that."
Bianca let out a harsh laugh. "And we are their wives! We bear their marks!"
I secretly scoffed at that. A wave of dark amusement washed over me because I knew the truth. The triplets had just admitted to me that those marks were fake, that they had never actually marked them. But I decided to play along with their little game just to see how far they would go.
"Then if you are their wives and their chosen mates, why do you feel so insecure?" I asked, tilting my head with a mocking smile. "I am nothing to them now. If your bonds are so strong, my presence shouldn’t matter."
The three of them instantly looked tense. They shifted on their feet, their angry scents turning a bit sour with nerves.
"We know you were the triplets’ first love," Talia said, trying to hold her ground. "We know what you used to mean to them."
"Key word: was," I replied smoothly. "I was their past. But you three claim to be their mates now, right? And nothing beats a mate bond. Except... well, you aren’t actually their fated mates, are you?"
Talia’s jaw clenched tightly. "We are their mates! We are their future!"
I shrugged my shoulders, completely unfazed by her outburst. "So, then, you don’t need to feel threatened by me at all. If you are so secure in your positions, you have nothing to worry about. Now, get out of my room. I want to rest."
The room went dead silent for a moment. The three girls looked at each other, silent messages passing between them. Finally, Camila, Liam’s wife, stepped forward. She was the quietest one out of the three, but right now, her face was completely pale, and her hands were shaking.
"Scarlett... we are pregnant," Camila said, her voice barely a whisper.
I furrowed my brow, my entire body freezing.
Camila swallowed hard and rushed to speak before I could interrupt. "I am three weeks pregnant. Bianca is almost a month pregnant, and Talia is already one and a half months gone."
My eyes widened in absolute shock. It felt like the ground beneath my feet had just opened up and swallowed me whole. My heart sank all the way to my stomach, a cold, numbing pain spreading through my chest. Deep inside me, my wolf howled in pure agony, curling into a tight, miserable ball.
Pregnant?
Camila’s eyes filled with tears as she looked at me, her voice begging. "We haven’t told the triplets yet. We are too scared. We are terrified that now that you are back, they will want us to terminate the pregnancies just to get back with you. Do you see why we want you to leave? Please, Scarlett... for the sake of our unborn children, just leave."
For a long, agonizing moment, I couldn’t say a single word. The silence in the room was deafening.
I was in so much pain. It felt like a physical knife was twisting in my chest, hacking away at the tiny piece of hope I didn’t even realize I was still holding onto. So... the triplets had been having sex with their wives. Of course they were. What the hell was I thinking? What did I expect? It had been five long years. Did I really think three powerful, grown Alpha shifters had stayed completely away from sex for five whole years just for me?
Foolish me. I had actually believed Leo when he said they never touched them. It was all a lie to make me feel safe, to make me come back.
My heart hurt so badly I could barely breathe, but I forced my face to remain completely blank. I swallowed down the bitter taste of betrayal and forced my emotions into a tight, dark box. I wouldn’t let these women see me cry. I wouldn’t give them that power.
Besides, it didn’t matter. I didn’t intend on staying here for long anyway. I just needed to find out who was trying to kill me, and then I would disappear from this godforsaken pack forever.
I looked at Camila, then at Bianca, and finally at Talia. They were all watching me, waiting for me to break, waiting for me to cry or scream.
I wouldn’t give them that joy.
"Is that all?" I asked, my voice coming out smooth, flat, and completely devoid of any emotion.
The three of them blinked, clearly shocked by how cold and calm I was acting. Bianca opened her mouth, her face twisting in anger again, but I didn’t let her speak.
I stood up from the bed, drawing myself up to my full height. Even though I was outnumbered, I let my own presence fill the space between us. "You came in here to beg me to leave for the sake of your babies. Fine. You have your answer. I have no plans to stay in this pack. I am only here to figure out something. Once that is done, I am gone."
Talia let out a breath, her tense shoulders dropping just a tiny bit, but her eyes were still suspicious. "How do we know we can trust your word?"
"You don’t have to trust me," I replied, walking slowly toward the door and opening it wide. I stood by the open frame, pointing out into the hallway. "But right now, you are in my space. I told you I wanted to rest, and I meant it. Get out."
Camila glared at me, her fists clenched tightly at her sides. "You think you can just order us around in our own mansion—"
"Camila, let’s go," Bianca interrupted quietly, pulling on Camila’s sleeve. Her face was still pale, and she looked completely drained. "She said she is leaving. That is what we came for."
With one last hateful look from Camila and a cold stare from Talia, the three women finally turned and walked out of my room. I didn’t wait for them to look back. The moment their heels cleared the doorway, I shut the heavy wooden door and locked it with a sharp click.
The second the lock turned, my strength completely evaporated.
I slid down against the back of the door, burying my face in my hands as the first tear finally spilled over my lashes. My chest throbbed with a pain so intense it felt completely physical. My wolf was whimpering loudly in my mind, her spirit crushed by the news.
Pregnant.
The word repeated over and over in my head like a cruel chant. It changed everything. Even if the triplets hadn’t marked them, even if their marriage was built on a massive lie to satisfy the pack, a baby was real. Three babies were real. Innocent lives were now tied to Liam, Leonard, and Leo.
I let out a shaky, broken breath, wiping my face angrily with the back of my hand. I felt so incredibly foolish. I had actually let myself hope, even for a split second, when Leo said they had never touched those women. I had let myself think that maybe, just maybe, they had been waiting for me the same way I had been mourning them. But it was all a game. They had lied to me just to drag me back into their territory.
We are leaving the moment we get our answers, my wolf growled through her pain, her voice turning sharp and angry. We won’t stay and watch them build families with other women.
"I know," I whispered out loud to the empty room. "We are getting out of here."
I forced myself to stand up, shaking off the weakness. I couldn’t afford to break down right now. If the triplets were willing to lie about something this huge, then I couldn’t trust a single word that came out of their mouths. I had to find out who ordered the hit on me in Shanghai entirely on my own, and I had to do it fast.
Suddenly, a deep, rumbling growl echoed from down the hallway, vibrating right through the floorboards and passing through the thick wood of my door.
It was Liam’s voice, loud and furious, followed quickly by the angry snaps of Leonard and Leo.
They were fighting out there. Despite my explicit warning, despite the promise I made them give me, the Alphas were already losing control.
I narrowed my eyes, my sadness instantly melting away into pure, cold fury. I gripped the door handle and pulled it open, ready to face the chaos outside.
